Notice of Public Hearing

Notice is hereby given by the City of LaPorte that it intends to apply to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for an estimated $455,870 in Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for Program Year 2018 on or before August 15, 2018.  Therefore, the City estimates a total of $455,870 will be awarded to carry out housing and community development activities in 2018-2019.  Pursuant to 24 CFR Part 91, the City of LaPorte is required to prepare and submit an Annual Action Plan for the housing and community development programs.  These plans represent a strategy and goals for use of the CDBG grant.
The City is planning two public hearings set for Thursday, July 5, 2018 and Thursday, July 19, 2018.  Both meetings begin at 1:15 PM.  Two different dates were chosen out of consideration for residents of LaPorte and community members who are unable to attend one.  Residents and community members wishing to participate may choose to attend only one of the public hearings.

The purpose of these hearings is to allow the City of LaPorte to solicit comments and obtain views on the use of the funds to be received in the 2018 program year.  The City of LaPorte wishes to encourage citizens, interested agencies, and community groups to participate in the development of the 2018 Annual Action Plan.  Eligible CDBG activities include single-family rehabilitation, homeownership programs, public infrastructure improvements, and public service activities.

If residents or community members are unable to attend either public meeting, written comments will be accepted through August 10, 2018 at the following address:
