Keeping softball fun — especially in the early stages of youth participation — is the primary concern of our program. We believe in participation for all, positive competition and building character. We teach fundamentals and traditions of the game, champion sportsmanship and encourage family and community support.
Registration begins with Youth Sports Registration Nights from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, and Thursday, January 17, in the lower level of the Civic Auditorium. Cost is $60 for first child and $50 for each additional child in same household and league. Registration available beginning January 18 at the Park Office (250 Pine Lake Avenue) or on-line. An additional $20 will be added to registration fee after March 8. Financial assistance is available for qualifying families.
Make checks payable to the La Porte Park and Recreation Department. Visa/Master Card accepted. Please bring the participant's birth certificate along with the appropriate registration fee.

Coach Pitch Softball (For Girls, Ages 7-9)
Start your young player out right by learning the fundamentals of softball, with coaches providing consistent pitching to help develop hitting skills. Girls will learn other essential skills such as throwing, catching and fielding. Rally Day will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at the Civic Auditorium. League practices begin week of April 16, games run late-May through beginning of July.
Junior Slowpitch Softball (For Girls, Ages 10-12)
Format allows for more contact at the plate, more action in the field and greater development of defensive skills. Program includes six weeks of preseason practices followed by 12-game schedule and single-elimination tournament. Rally Day will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at the Civic Auditorium. League practices begin week of March 25, games run early-May through beginning of July.
Senior Slowpitch Softball (For Girls, Ages 13-17) Players continue to enjoy the plentiful action in the field, with healthy competition and camaraderie. Program includes six weeks of preseason practices followed by 12-game schedule and single-elimination tournament.Rally Day will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at the Civic Auditorium. League practices begin week of March 25, games run early-May through beginning of July.(18-year-old high school students will be accepted.)
All participants are encouraged to attend the preseason clinics scheduled for Saturdays, March 2 at Boston Middle School gymnasium and March 9 and 16 at the La Porte High School field house. The clinics will feature instruction in the fundamentals and allow players to knock off the "rust" from the winter. The clinics run from 11-11:50 a.m. for all divisions.
Fall Slowpitch Softball (For Girls, Ages 9-16)
Our Fall Slowpitch Softball program, divided into Senior (ages 12-16) and Junior (ages 9-11) divisions, prepares players for the next season. Our emphasis will be on instruction and constructive competition as players look to take their games to the next level. Program includes three weeks of preseason practices followed by 10-game schedule and single-elimination tournament. League practices begin August 12, games run late-August through beginning of October.
