COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG)

 

                The Community Development Block Grant Program began in 2004 in the City of LaPorte.  Funded projects must meet one of the national objectives established by the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.  These objectives are  benefitting low- and moderate-income persons, preventing or eliminating slums or blight, or meeting other community needs having an urgency because existing conditions pose a serious and immediate threat to health or welfare of the community and other financial resources are not available to meet such needs.

PROGRAM YEAR 2024

CONSOLIDATED ANNUAL PERFORMANCE AND EVALUATION REPORT (CAPER)

 

NOTICE is hereby given by the City of La Porte, Indiana that it intends to submit its Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) for Program Year 2024 Community Development Block Grant funds to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on or before December 30, 2025.  The CAPER is an annual report on the activities and usage of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) by the City of La Porte for Program Year October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025.

 

Pursuant to 24 CFR Part 91, the City of La Porte is required to prepare and submit a Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report for the housing and community development programs and hold a public hearing on the results of its CAPER.  The City of La Porte will hold a Public Hearing regarding the CAPER beginning at 1:15 PM on Thursday, December 11, 2025, in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 801 Michigan Avenue, La Porte, Indiana. 

 

A digital draft copy of the report will be available for viewing and comment from December 11, 2025, to December 29, 2025, at the following location:

A draft hard copy of the document will also be available to view from December 11, 2025,through December 29, 2025, at:

Comments from the public are welcome and may be submitted by mail to the Community Development Block Program, 801 Michigan Avenue, La Porte, IN46350, by email to marichards@cityoflaportein.gov, or by phone by calling 219/362-8260, extension 1.

 

The City of La Porte wishes to encourage citizens, interested agencies, and community groups to participate in the development of the Program Year 24 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER).
