COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG)

 

                The Community Development Block Grant Program began in 2004 in the City of LaPorte.  Funded projects must meet one of the national objectives established by the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.  These objectives are  benefitting low- and moderate-income persons, preventing or eliminating slums or blight, or meeting other community needs having an urgency because existing conditions pose a serious and immediate threat to health or welfare of the community and other financial resources are not available to meet such needs.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

INVITING PUBLIC REVIEW AND COMMENTS REGARDING AN AMENDMENT TO THE CITIZEN PARTICIPATION PLAN

AND A SUBSTANTIAL AMENDMENT

TO THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG)

PROGRAM YEAR 2020 ACTION PLAN

FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDING

OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT-CORONAVIRUS FUNDS

 

NOTICE is hereby given that on Thursday, October 16, 2025, the City of La Porte will hold a public hearing  at 1:30 PM in the City Council Chambers, located in City Hall, 801 Michigan Avenue, La Porte, Indiana to receive citizen’s comments on the following:

 

  • Recommendations for Program Year 2020 CDBG-CV Funding Allocations in the City of La Porte.  The City estimates allocating in CDBG-CV funding in the amount of $241,379.34  in CDBG-CV funds for Program Year 2020.  The purpose of the Substantial Amendment is to allow CDBG-CV funding to remove and replace the elevator at the La Porte Civic Auditorium and Gymnasium. The Substantial Amendment, proposed allocations and additional information regarding the Program Year 2020 Annual Action Plan may be found on the City of La Porte website at www.cityoflaporte.com.  Citizens may review the projects and recommend funding amounts at the public hearing or on the City’s website.  Citizens’ comments are welcomed beginning October 16, 2025 to October 21, 2025 and during the public hearing and can be given by contacting Mary Ann Richards at 219-362-8260 or marichards@cityoflaportein.gov.
  • This public hearing satisfies HUD requirements for the submission of an  Environmental Review to HUD and a Substantial Amendment for the 2019-2023 Consolidated Plan.
