Neighborhood Improvement Program Information
The La Porte Urban Enterprise Association has begun a new program to assist to homeowners residing with the boundaries of the Enterprise Zone.
The Association will fund 90% of exterior repairs to homes with the homeowner contributing 10% of the cost. Total project costs shall not exceed $10,000 per home. Rental properties are not eligible to participate.
La Porte Enterprise Zone Announces New Neighborhood Program
The application period is now closed. The La Porte Urban Enterprise Association wishes you much success in locating other resources to help you with repairs to your residence.
As part of its efforts to foster strong and safe neighborhoods within the Enterprise Zone, the La Porte Urban Enterprise Association is sponsoring a Neighborhood Improvement Program to give residents within the Enterprise Zone an opportunity to improve their owner-occupied homes. The Association will fund 90% of exterior repairs to homes with the homeowner contributing 10% of the cost. Total project costs shall not exceed $10,000 per home. Rental properties are not eligible to participate in this program.
Examples of projects are window repair/replacement, door repair/replacement, exterior painting, repointing of mortar joints, porch repairs, installation of railings; gutter/downspout replacement, junk/trash/debris removal, fence repairs, shrub removal, and tree removal.
Ineligible activities include interior improvements, full-scale landscaping, purchasing of furnishings, equipment, or other personal property that does not become part of the real estate.
The La Porte Urban Enterprise Association pays 90% of the total project cost with a $10,000 maximum for eligible improvements. The homeowner is responsible for 10% of the project cost and any excess cost.
Interested homeowners must apply and have it approved before work begins. The application must include photographs of the areas the repairs are to cover. A homeowner will be notified in writing of acceptance into the program.
The La Porte Urban Enterprise Association will hire the contractor to complete the approved repair.
