Get ready to break a sweat, strengthen your body and burn calories while having fun! This class brings a cardiovascular workout using upbeat music and an aerobic step. Includes smooth dances such as Foxtrot and Tango, as well as rhythm dances such as Swing, Salsa, Hustle and Cha Cha. Meet new people, stay active, reduce stress and develop body awareness with this fun class. Go to your next party and actually be able to get up and DANCE! If you are staying on top of fitness trends, you know that barre workouts, which are designed to give you a long, lean dancer-like physique, are all the rage! While all barre workouts differ slightly in structure, most combine elements of ballet, Pilates and yoga. Barre exercises rely mainly upon one’s body weight for resistance and the moves challenge your core stability and balance. Taught by Certified Instructor Becca Masters. Cost is $30 per session. Pre-registration is required; however, walk-ins are welcome at a $8 per class fee. Our five-week session will be held from 6-6:50 p.m. Wednesdays in the lower level of the Civic Auditorium (use the ramp at the Plain Street entrance). If you are looking for a fun, creative outlet, try one of our ceramic classes. It provides a great way to get away and meet friends, all while making some unique projects for yourself or gifts for others. We offer pre-registered specialty classes as well as open classes, held in the Ceramics Room at the Civic Auditorium. The fee of the specialty classes varies per project and includes everything necessary to complete the project. The cost is $6 per class during the open classes. Open classes for Winter/Spring 2019 will be held January 26, March 2, April 3, April 10, April 13, May 4. UPDATE: The Christmas in March class is FULL. We will also hold a Christmas in March specialty class on Saturday, March 30, to provide an opportunity to individuals who were unable to make a ceramic Christmas tree in December 2018. The Comic Book Project ™
The Comic Book Project™ is a world-renowned literacy initiative that has engaged more than 200,000 learners in a creative process leading to academic achievement, social awareness and community development. By engaging youths in brainstorming, sketching, plotting, designing and publishing original comic books, Comic Book Project™ encourages students to become active learners and content creators, rather than mere information receivers. The cost for Comic Book Project™ I is $80 for 7 classes beginning March 4, 2019. Deadline to register for CBP I is February 27. The cost for Comic Book Project™ II is $90 for 9 classes beginning April 8, 2019. Deadline to register for CBP II is April 3.

Kooking with Kids
This five-week cooking class is a fun, interactive cooking class that provides a hands-on experience for children in cooking/preparing healthy dishes and snacks with the five food groups. Kids cooking programs are a fantastic way to get kids interested and even excited about healthy foods. Participants have the opportunity to create healthy meals that teach kids important math and reading skills as they follow recipes and measure ingredients. Explore, capture, create. Want to learn the fundamentals of photography? Have questions about your camera? Learn how to shoot photos like a professional from self-taught photographer Larry Noel. Pottery - Wheel Throwing
The art of wheel throwing is both a therapeutic and expressive way to create pottery. This class focuses solely on techniques in throwing clay forms on a pottery wheel. During the seven-week class, students will learn to apply aesthetics, proper thickness and craftsmanship needed to make functional pottery. You'll be guided by local artist Alayna Bublitz who has a Bachelor's degree in Studio Art with a concentration in ceramics. Learn the process of making, decorating and glazing your work. A class for all skill levels. The fee for the program is $74. We offer an adults class (ages 16 and up) on Monday and Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. and Friday afternoon classes are held from 3-5 p.m. All classes are held in the Ceramics Room in the lower level of the Civic Auditorium (use the ramp at the Plain Street entrance). ScienceTellers - Aliens: Escape from Earth (Summer 2019)
During a midnight meteor shower, something mysterious falls from the sky toward Earth - but it's not a shooting star. Two curious kids venture into the forest to investigate and find themselves mixed up with a family of visitors from another planet! Pursued by a crazy space scientist, they must risk everything to rescue the aliens and get them back to their spaceship - before it's too late!
Throughout this amazing intergalactic story, ScienceTellers use science experiments to bring the story to life! In the second part of the show, the presenters go "behind the scenes" of the special effects and recreate the science experiments with the help of volunteers from the audience. Discover the unbelievable world of physics and chemistry through exciting experiments.
This new and exciting event will be held on Saturday, July 13, from 9-9:45 a.m. in the lower level of the Civic Auditorium (use door at end of the ramp on Plain Street). Yoga can help soothe the mind and lower stress levels by focusing the mind on the moment and movements rather than on external distractions.
