  1. WinterFest Ice Sculpture Demonstrations

    January 25, 2019, 4:00 PM @ Rotary Honor Gardens Gazebo

    Come and view creative ice sculptors bring a block of ice to life under the lights of the Rotary Honor Garden Gazebo in Soldiers Memorial Park (250 Pine Lake Avenue). The chiseling and picking is set to begin at 4:00 PM with viewing available during regular park hours (sunrise-10 p.m.) until Mother Nature takes them away!

  2. WinterFest Family Game Night

    January 25, 2019, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM @ W.A. Cummings Lodge

    After viewing the ice sculptures, join us at cozy Cummings Lodge for our first of many Family Game Nights! Leave your electronics at home and bring your dinner with your favorite game (monopoly, cards, sorry, etc). We will have a toasty fire going to warm you up! Already have dinner? We will be supplying popcorn and punch for a snack.

  3. WinterFest “Snowball Softball” Adult Coed Tournament

    January 26, 2019, 9:00 AM @ Lions Field

    The “Snowball Softball” Adult Coed Tournament returns and will be held come snow or more snow. The double-elimination tournament is limited to the first eight teams to register. NSA coed rules apply. Team awards for first, second and third place and individual awards for first place. The cost is $165 per team. The registration deadline will be Friday, January 18, at 4:00 PM. Turn in rosters & waiver forms to the Park Office (250 Pine Lake Avenue).

  4. WinterFest Family Ceramics

    January 26, 2019, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Civic Ceramics Room

    For creative adults and children alike, join us for Family Ceramics. Participants can paint seasonal gifts such as snowmen, Valentine’s Day boxes and figurines or think ahead with spring items such as Easter eggs. The cost is $6 which includes paints and brushes but not the bisque item for decorating. All children must have a parent or guardian present.

  5. WinterFest Breakfast with the Birds

    January 26, 2019, 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM @ Luhr County Park

    Breakfast with the Birds, sponsored by the La Porte County Parks, will be held at Luhr County Park Nature Center (3178 S. 150 W. La Porte). Come and learn about our feathered friends and enjoy breakfast treats while watching our birds grab a bite at the bird-feeding station. No pre-registration is require. This program is open to all ages but children must be accompanied by an adult.

    Move those winter blues away! No dance background required for our Barre Class! If you are staying on top of fitness trends, you know that barre workouts which are designed to give you a long, lean dancer-like physique, are all the rage. Come and join certified instructor Becca Masters for a new type of workout. Donations will graciously be accepted to support the La Porte Park and Recreation Department's Youth Scholarship Program.

    Join us for a Wheel Throwing Pottery Demonstration by local artist Alayna Bublitz. The art of wheel throwing is both a therapeutic and expressive way to create pottery. The event will include time for individuals to sit at a wheel and get their hands dirty. Maybe you will hear "Unchained Melody" playing in the background.

  9. WinterFest Cornhole Tournament

    January 26, 2019, 1:00 PM @ Civic Auditorium Main Floor

    Whether you call it cornhole or bags, enjoy your favorite outdoor summer activity indoors this winter at the WinterFest Cornhole Tournament. This new event, presented by American Legion Hamon Gray Post 83, will be held Saturday, January 26, at the Civic Auditorium. The entry fee is $50 per two-man team or $25 for individuals. Register at the Park Office (250 Pine Lake Avenue), American Legion Post 83 (228 E. Lincolnway) or on-line at Cash bar and concessions available.

  10. WinterFest Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides

    January 27, 2019, 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM @ W.A. Cummings Lodge

    Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides are offered for free from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in Soldiers Memorial Park. After a trot through the park, hot chocolate will be available by the fireplace at Cummings Lodge.
