      Thank you for visiting the City of La Porte website.  If you are new to the area, I hope this site gives you a feel for our community; and if you call it home or are a neighbor, I hope that you find the information that you are seeking about the City of La Porte.

      This website provides easy access to City Government and offers a wide variety of information on the community. Included is information on our rich history, local schools, churches, restaurants, festivals, museums, parks, and our library.  The Calendar of Events is there to help you plan your visit to the area, as well as help you advertise your event.  Our community is like a “Crazy Quilt” made up of many colorful patches.  Together these patches form a picture of a vital city with something to offer everyone.
     If you are considering our area for your business, the business section of the City’s web site contains invaluable information. There are links to the Greater La Porte Economic Development Corporation, the Greater La Porte Chamber of Commerce, as well as La Porte Co. Biz. There are many attractions, including our many wonderful parks and lakes.  We have a great school system, an outstanding hospital and medical community.  I can’t forget to mention the City’s emphasis on the arts with our outstanding Symphony Orchestra, our summer Arts in the Park Concerts and our Community Theater.
