The Girls Softball Supervisor administers and oversees the operation of the girl's softball program. 

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervises daily (evening) operation of the girls' softball program.
  • Develops slow pitch league schedules for coach pitch, junior and senior leagues.
  • Reschedules slow pitch league makeup games coach pitch, junior and senior leagues.
  • Recruits umpires and coaches needed for the program.  Assign, supervise and evaluate umpires on a regular basis as well as train and supervise all coaches.
  • Keeps an accounting of games worked by umpire staff for payroll.
  • Attends umpire or coaches meetings.
  • Displays leadership to umpires in regard to dress, conduct and rule interpretations.
  • Responsible for providing "Umpire Scorecards".
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises 8-10 employees in the Girls Softball program. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the La Porte Park and Recreation Department’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities including hiring and training umpires; planning, assigning, and directing responsibilities to employees; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving any issues that may arise.

Qualifications:
Background in girls softball and one to two years related supervisory experience or training.  Ability to directly supervise and carry out supervisory responsibilities to 8-10 employees in the girls' softball program.
